Rooted in Jewish and Christian traditions, the word “Merkaba” is derived from Hebrew and means chariot or vehicle. An ancient Egyptian translation phonetically breaks down the word to three parts - "Mer" - light, "Ka" - spirit, and "Ba" - body, representing the connection between spirit, body, and light, and thus - the soul’s ascension process.
The merkaba shape is constructed of two intersecting tetrahedra - the top one pointing upwards and the lower one pointing downwards, thus the merkaba also symbolizes the union of two opposites - earth and sky, masculine and feminine, physical and spiritual. By uniting the opposites balance, stability, and harmony are created.
